Civil Engineering BTEC HND

Our BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in Construction & Built Environment places academic theory within a practical context. The Course is suitable for those who intend to pursue a career in the engineering industry. It also offers valuable experience lading to a qualification recognized by employers and professional bodies alike.

Why take this course?

Professional recognition: approval from professional engineering institutions means a BTEC HND, combined with appropriate further study to degree level, can stisfy registrations requirements as an incorporated Engineer.

Core scientific principles: learners gain a thorough grounding in the fundamental scientific and mathematical principles required to solve engineering problems.

On successful completion of the HND, students can progress onto the final year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree course at Chindwin’s academic partner universities.

All 16 modules are assessed by projects and written assignments. There are no formal examinations but some modules contain in0class tests. Students are also taught employability and life skills to ease their transition from classroom to the workplace.

What will I experience?

On this course you can:

Transfer from the BEng to the MEng course at the end of either the first or second year
Apply your skills to real-life practical problems as part of our partnership schemes with local and global organisations
Venture overseas on a European exchange programme or do a paid work placement in industry

It also offers valuable experience leading to a qualification recognized by employers and professional bodies alike.

Course Duration

Two academic years of 4 semesters of classroom Laboratory and Workshop activities.

Entry Requirements

Undergraduates in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics and Engineering, OR National Diploma or a City & Guilds Diploma in appropriate Engineering discipline OR any other training and academic qualification which the College may consider acceptable.
